SILVER BUCKLE BAND

Mel Curtis of the Silver Buckle Band

Mel Curtis:

Mel plays guitar, slide guitar, pedal steel, harmonica & vocals.
I started playing guitar in 1969, after being given my first guitar by my cousin Bud, who said "See what you can do with this." It was an old Sears Silvertone. I began studying with Joe Parton, who played In his own band. In late 1972, Joe quit the band and guess who was able to step into his place. My first band! I was hooked.

For the last 30 years, I have been playing different venues and styles of music: rock, country, blues... I love them all. I have been fortunate to know many different musician's here in Indiana, and have built up quite a few friends.

Mel lives in Cumberland with his wife Joni. They have 3 children. He spreads his spare time between blacksmithing, motorcycling, building sandrails with his sons & rescuing and re-homing English Springer spaniels here in Indiana & Kentucky. Mel is thrilled that his daughter, Allyson is getting married in August of this year.

Frank hopes to help make the Silver Buckle Band one of the best regional bands in the tri state. In 2007 Frank returned to Nashville to perform some of his original songs at the "Bluebird Cafe." Harry Walters of the Silver Buckle Band

Harry Walters:

Harry plays drums, fronts a few tunes and does backup vocals.
Here goes. I have been playing the drums since I was 12 years old. I played in my high school band and orchestra. I was also member of the swing band. When I was a senior, I received the John Phillip Sousa award for outstanding musician. I have played in rock bands, country bands, big bands, gospel bands, and for musicals at civic theater. I have also sung lead and backup vocals in most bands. My wife's name is Elaine. I enjoy country and classic rock. I play Pearl exports with Zildjian cymbals. When I am not working, I enjoy golf, reading, TV, weight lifting, and riding my bicycle. We have 3 kids, one plays the piano and one plays bass guitar. Not a drummer in the bunch!
